Four Years, Two Soles, and New Beginnings

Four Years, Two Soles, and New Beginnings

Four Years, Two Soles, and a New Beginning

The journey beneath my feet

Four years.

Two sandals.

Countless steps.

These Earth Runners have been my support team through the last four years of my life.

Looking at them now, weathered and worn, I see more than a pair of sandals.

I see a chapter of my life.

A chapter filled with transformation, discovery, uncertainty, growth, and change.

Not just on the outside.

On the inside, too.

The Miles We Carry

It’s fascinating how an ordinary object can become part of our personal history.

We put on our shoes without thinking much about them. We walk through our days, go about our responsibilities, face our challenges, and occasionally find ourselves standing somewhere we never imagined we’d be.

And through it all, the soles beneath our feet quietly collect the evidence of the journey.

These sandals have accompanied me through four years of becoming.

They have worn down as I’ve moved forward.

Their appearance has changed, just as I have.

And somehow, looking at them today makes me appreciate the distance between where I began and where I stand now.

Transformation Doesn’t Always Announce Itself

Sometimes change arrives as a single decision.

Other times, it happens so gradually that we barely recognize it.

A shift in perspective.

A new interest.

An old belief reconsidered.

A different way of spending our time.

A growing desire to create something that feels more authentically our own.

Then one day, we look around and realize that life has changed.

We have changed.

And the things that once seemed ordinary begin to hold an entirely different meaning.

These sandals remind me of that.

Not because they caused my transformation, but because they were present while I experienced it.

Learning to Walk My Own Path

One of the most meaningful things I’ve been discovering is that I don’t always need to know exactly where something will lead before I begin.

I experience this in my artwork.

When I start a dot painting, I often have only the beginning of an idea.

I place one dot.

Then another.

And gradually, a pattern emerges.

The finished image reveals itself through the process.

I’m beginning to recognize something similar in life.

We don’t always receive a complete picture of the road ahead.

Sometimes we discover our direction by walking.

One decision.

One experience.

One step at a time.

From Footsteps to Fingerprints

Today, much of my energy is going into creating artwork, writing, exploring ideas, and building OnesMusings.com.

The website is still in its early stages.

I’m learning WordPress, publishing my first pages, and discovering how I want this space to grow.

There is so much I want to explore: art, language, neuroscience, perception, consciousness, and the unexpected connections between them.

At times, it feels like another blank canvas.

And just like my paintings, I don’t have to know what the completed picture will look like.

I only have to begin.

Perhaps that’s why the timing of this photograph feels meaningful.

These sandals have carried me through years of personal transformation.

Now, as I begin sharing my work and thoughts with the world, they remind me that every new beginning is supported by the journey that came before it.

A Little Wear, A Lot of Living

There is beauty in things that have been used.

A worn surface tells a story.

A faded color records exposure to the elements.

A familiar object can become a reminder of experiences we might otherwise overlook.

My Earth Runners are certainly showing their age.

But I don’t look at them and see something worn out.

I see something that has served its purpose faithfully.

I see four years of movement.

And I see a reminder that growth doesn’t always look polished.

Sometimes it looks weathered.

Sometimes it looks uncertain.

Sometimes it looks like beginning something new with only a little experience and a great deal of curiosity.

The Next Step

I don’t know exactly what OnesMusings will become.

I know what fascinates me.

I know that I want to create.

I know that I want to learn.

And I know that I want this website to become a place where ideas can meet, connect, and grow.

For now, that’s enough.

Four years ago, I couldn’t have predicted everything that would change.

Today, I don’t need to predict the next four.

I simply want to remain curious about where the journey leads.

These sandals have supported me through one remarkable chapter.

And now, with a few more miles behind me and a new creative adventure ahead, I find myself returning to a simple truth:

Every journey begins somewhere. Every painting begins with a mark. And every new chapter begins with a step.

Here’s to the road already traveled.

And to everything still waiting to be discovered.

One step. One dot. One musing at a time.
